Valverde banned from Stuggart Championships

Despite of the fact that the UCI has banned Valverde from participate in the World Road Championship, the Spaniard is still training hard with the support of his team, Caisse D'Epargne and the Sports Council along with the Spanish Cycling Federation hold up. The statement issue by the International Cyclist Union denies Valverde the option to compete in Stuggart due to his supposed involvement with the Operacion Puerto.
Apparently, the three times world medalist has been blocked of participate in prevention of a doping scandal that may affect the reputation of the World Championships. As the UCI reported, there are several documents from the Operacion Puerto investigation that link the cyclist with the affair.
The UCI has also asked the Spanish Cycling Federation to open a disciplinary case against the professional cyclist because of the itinerary changes he made without informing them through an official document. However, the RFEC has denied doing so and confirms its unconditional support to Alejandro Valverde.
In the other hand, Valverde has denied any involvement with the doping scandal occurred last year. Actually, he is already on the list of the participants that Spanish federation will send to Stuggart and is highly prepare for the challenge. He has been one of the most prominent riders of Spain in the last two years along with world champion, Oscar Freire. It will be a big loss for cycling not to have the ace of Spain in its start line on September 26th.
