Tour de France is underway

The 94th edition of the most prestigious and professional cycling event in the World started last Saturday July 7th. The7.9 kilometers time-trial prologue began in London, in the heart of the city passing through the Greenwich Millennium Village in front of the most beautiful buildings.
On Sunday started the first stage from London to Canterbury on a 203 kilometers journey in which there was a crash with about 20 km to the finish, the Australian Robbie McEwen from Predictor- Lotto went over the bars and injured his wrist but even though he managed to finish first with a time of 4 hours 39 minutes and 1 second, he said he landed on his knee, hand, and wrist in the fall. On second place came the Norwegian Thor Hushovd from Credit Agricole with the same time and as third from Quick Step the Belgian Tom Boonen with the same time also.
Eduardo Gonzalo from Agritubel crashed through the rear window of a Caisse d'Epargne team car, and had to leave the race.
During the168.5 km second stage on Monday, from Dunkerque to Grand there was another crash that took some key riders down, between them yellow jersey Fabian Cacellara, it happened about 2 km to ride, the winner was the Belgian Gert Steegmans from Quick Step-Innergetic, on second place Tom Boonen from Quick Step-Innergetic, Belgian also, and the third place for the Italian Fillippo Pozzato from Liquigas. The effect of the crashes was neutralized by the UCL rules, giving the same time as the winner. Boonen took over the green jersey.
From Waregem to Compiègne on third place came the Italian Danilo Napolitano from Lampre Fondital second place the German Erik Zabel Milram and the Swiss Fabian Cancellara showed a brilliant tactic and won the sprint and consolidates his yellow shirt for the General Time Classification. This stage was for 236.5 km.
