Fernando Alonso started his career as a professional Formula One driver in 2001, when the Renault team hired him. After a preseason agreement the Spaniard is assigned to the Minardi F1 Team. In its first year, Alonso came in 23rd after not completing the season.
In 2002, Alonso returns to Renault as a test driver but this turns out to be a very unpleasant experience for him and during that year he couldn’t race.
After his return to Renault, Alonso had an erratic season. He was forced to retreat to during the final three races of the 2003 season. Later he would recover and the next year Alonso begins to stand out as a figure in the motorsports’ world. The next two seasons were the confirmation of Alonso as a driver of high quality and ambition. In both years the Spaniard had 14 top positions and won the World Championships (2005 and 2006).
After the victory in Korea, Alonso leads with 231 points followed by Mark Webber (220) and Lewis Hamilton in third with 210 units.
2007 was a controversial year for Alonso, as after switching to the McLarens-Mercedes team, he managed only three first places and finished third. Alonso decides to return to Renault for 2008, where he had an erratic season and only climbed to the top of the podium on two distinct occasions.
Alonso has deemed 2009 the worst year of his career. His car was not competitive, something that would personally hurt him greatly. During the season, he had to withdraw three times and a third-place finish in Singapore was his best finish to that point.
Ferrari recognizes talent and the ability to Fernando Alonso and acquires his services from 2010. During the season, Alonso shows his skill at the wheel marking the best of times. Shortly thereafter, on the first date, harvesting Alonso's first win with his new team dominated the race from start to finish.
Throughout the season, Fernando Alonso has kept a fierce battle with Red Bull's Mark Webber and his defending champion teammate Sebastian Vettel. Alonso has proved to be a pilot who meets all the necessary conditions to become the champion again.
Alonso has been a strong fight and although it has been smooth, as two positions outside the top ten and a retreat, has known how to handle the pressure without losing focus or lose their competitive edge. This has served to be the driver with more wins, five so far in the 2010/11 season.
In the Korean Grand Prix, Alonso overcame much adversity from a harsh weather that halted the race on several occasions. The newly opened circuit in Korea was complicated yet he and took advantage of the accident that took out his strongest rivals, Vettel and Webber, for his fifth title of the season.
After the victory in Korea, Alonso leads with 231 points followed by Mark Webber (220) and Lewis Hamilton in third with 210 units. Despite the short distance to Webber, Alonso will be presented in Brazil, next time, with very good chances of becoming the Formula One World Champion.
