Andy Murray will not participate in the French Open

Andy Murray suffered from a wrist injury at the Hamburg Masters last week that cost his entry to the Roland Garros which will begin next May 27th, 2007. Not only he is out of the French Open but also he may not even make it to the following Grand Slam at Wimbledon and to top this off he has as well dropped down a spot in the latest world rankings slipping from the number 10 to the number 11.
During the first round at Hamburg, while he was in the lead against Filippo Volandri at 5-1, he twisted and wounded his wrist to the point of swelling and the usage of a cast. Fortunately, he did not break any bones and has already started treatment.
The twenty-year-old young and talented Scottish player was one of the favorites for this year’s competition. According to tennis experts he was expected to at least make it to the quarterfinals and that he would be a hard opponent to defeat due to his very strong skills to play on clay.
As for the Wimbledon, it is programmed to start on June 25th and Murray is scheduled to play at the Stella Artois tournament at Queen's starting on the 11th of June. However, he has not made any decisions or statements as to if he will indeed take part.
Murray has an appointment in a week with his doctor to monitor how much of the swelling is gone and to assess his wrist. In the mean time; he plans to work out in the gym and work on his cardio and leg strength to stay fit for when he returns.
