Federer Manages to Sharply Snatch his Victory in Shanghai

By Stephen Lars

ATP World number one tennis player, Roger Federer was asked what kind of advice he would give as coach to any tennis player that would have to face him… the Swiss just joked about it.

After witnessing his last win of the season where he achieved his fourth title in five years at the Masters Cup putting an extraordinary end to his most profitable year in his career …no many tennis players can laugh about it.

Federer’s dazzling quality of game conquered Spaniard David Ferrer in three sets 6-2, 6-3 and 6-2 in Shanghai showing the reasons he is still for the fourth consecutive year in the number one position and holding it.

''It has been a fantastic year'', said Federer message to all those that insinuated he was at crisis after his surprising defeat against the Chilean Fernando González in his debut Red Group game.

''It has been an advance for me as I lost no sets during the Australia Open and I won over Rafael Nadal “, affirmed Federer.

“Still I would like to play a little more offensive and approach the net more times. Also I am in a very good position for next year.'' said the Swiss.

When González defeated Federer in his first game, this one became the ninth defeat for the Swiss. Also, it is important to mention that these were consecutive defeats, which are very rare have only taken place for the first time in more than four years. But the situation did no t panic Federer; on the contrary it made him stronger.

With three Grand Slam titles in 2007, which support him as to be a French Open finalist, Federer smiled. ''Some can think that is a disaster. I did not," added.

After the first game, Federer stepped up and conquered to the Russian Nikolay Davydenko before destroying to Andy Roddnick in 6-4 and 6-2 as well as his all time rival Nadal 6-4 and 6-1, his stronger victory over Spaniard recorded.

Federer finishes the 2007-year as number one in consecutive seasons and affirms he would like to play until he becomes 35 years old, a very unfortunate news for Nadal.

''Maybe I am the best number two in history'' commented with a sarcastic smile the French Open Champion; Rafael Nadal. ''When Roger plays well it is impossible to stop him.’’
