Is Federer The Best Ever?

This current question keeps on coming up in the tennis world. however, the question is a valid one. He is on pace to surpass the great Pete Sampras in grand slams won. Mr. Federer is very aware of tennis record holders and shows respect for the past top players.
Some loyal fans are quick to argue, well Federer does not have the same men's talent or competition level that they had in the late 70's, 80's or 90's. with the likes of Connors, Borg, McEnroe, Lendl, Edberg, Becker, Agassi, Courier, Sampras, Rafter, and clay court masters Muster, Bruguera, Kuerten, or the big serve and volley guys.
Well, the fans argument is put to rest when these former champs all say Federer has some incredible talent never before seen. They all say he has all the shots, baseline, net game, great serve, exceptional defensive play, the mental game, the desire to win, can play and win on all surfaces, not conceited, gracious. These quotes all come from his current touring pros as well.
He is on a different level all together. As TV commentator, Patrick McEnroe has said a few times during Federer's championship match Sundays, "that was just sick", referring to his effortless yet extremely difficult shot. I must admit too after watching tennis since Borg's heyday over 25 years ago, I have never seen anyone like this guy. He does make the most difficult shot look so easy and graceful.
When he does lose a match, 3 out of 85 matches, it is mainly due to fatigue. Moreover, he is still extremely close to wining matches when he loses, as the score is normally a 3rd set score of 6-4 or 7-5. The winner who beats him is usually dumbfounded and still honors Federer's greatness during their victory speech because Federer quickly puts to rest that player's ability that beat him previously in their next match. Federer does get into some trouble when he plays Rafael Nadal who has beaten him four times and lately Guillermo Canas. They are both baseliners and both are quick defensive players. Federer should enjoy the challenge and will work on that part of his game, against a speedy counter-puncher. It’ll be great to see his tennis strategy against these top players. It's like a chess match, feeling out each others strengths and weaknesses during a match and exploiting it to gain a victory. The next time he is in your town to play, do not hesitate to get a tennis ticket and watch greatness in live. Tiger woods did just that at the US Open and in Key Biscayne.
Tennis Magazine interviewed Andy Roddick and when asked why players don't pressure Federer he replied, "I'm going to break it down for you. What's the primary difference between now and 10 years ago? It's not the equipment, dude. Roger uses the same racquet Pete used, I've used the same racquet for eight years. The only thing that's different now is the Luxilon strings. It doesn't make you hit harder, it just allows you to take wooly-mammoth swings all day and the ball still comes down." (Tennis, April 2007, p.68) The Luxilon string provides the control required to hit the ball hard while still keeping it in play.
