By Jill Woods

Since May 27th the Roland Garros tournament has been held at Paris, France, and two weeks later the Wimbledon in London will take place as a consecutive event.

Roland Garros is one of the events called The Grand Slam, a name which is given to the Four Open most famous tourneys of the professional tennis.

On this event participate the best ranked players from the ATP and the WTA.

This year, the first day of action the most part of the games were canceled due to weather conditions, but a few ones from the female side were completed as Serena Williams against Justine Henin. On the male side Marat Safin won against the Spaniard Fernando Vicente. On the outstanding winners of the day are Dinara Safina, Tamira Paszek, Potito Starace and Janko Tipsaveric.

On the second stage of the event the rain kept obstructing the development of the games, however there were some matches that day and Venus Williams, Michaela Krajicek and Nikolai Davydenko were some of the winners of the second day.

The third stage is a little singular, since there are 9 american female players but from them only one can reach a victory the rest of them lose. Shenay Perry is the only female tennis player that reaches the second round, who after losing the first set against Olivia Sanchez gets the victory.

On the men group Phillip Kohlschreiber defeated Lukas Dlouhy in a game which final score is 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, 4-6, 17-15b.
